Prerequisite: Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT)

Course Objectives
• Demonstrate cable preparation and cleaning skills for outside plant networks
• Deep understanding on fiber optic enclosures types and hardware
• Hands on lab sessions on mechanical and fusion splicing, Installation of fan out kits (furcation tubing), mid-span access and OSP cabling project completion
• Proficient use of test equipment for OSP Networks like OTDR, optical loss test set and visual fault locator (VFL)

Upon completion of this course you will have the knowledge, skills and proficiency that enable you to install and terminate fiber cables, perform testing, know the various types of cable and enclosures for OSP applications, as well as troubleshoot and document fiber systems within industry specifications. Successful completion will lead to specialist certification by the Fiber Optic Association that is essential in various job roles like Fiber Optic Installation Technician, network operator, network maintenance technician, test and measurement technician and components and systems designers.
